Steve: Energized, strong & on the right track

Summary

Steve B., 57, came to Med Matrix with severely low testosterone (level of 200), type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and a collection of symptoms that conventional medicine had attributed to aging. After being dismissed by both an at-home health service and conventional doctors who were content with his "in range" numbers, he was referred by his older brother (already a Med Matrix patient). Within about a month and a half of starting testosterone treatment and a targeted supplement protocol, he stopped having mid-day crashes and began regaining strength. He had been staggering when he walked and could barely support his own weight before treatment.

Before Med Matrix

  • Testosterone level of approximately 200 (extremely low; Med Matrix target is closer to 850)
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Leg weakness: staggering, unable to keep weight above his knees, hips and knees giving out
  • Mid-day energy crashes requiring 1 to 1.75 hour naps
  • Not going to the gym at all
  • Developing symptoms from multiple medications; eventually on approximately 12 to 14 different medications
  • Stopped taking all medications on his own because none were addressing root causes
  • Conventional doctors tested one symptom at a time over 3-month cycles with no resolution
  • Dismissed with "you're getting older, this is part of being diabetic"
  • Home health service (Hone Health) refused to treat him due to underlying conditions

Results

  • Starting to feel much better after approximately a month and a half
  • No longer has mid-day energy crashes or need for long naps
  • Getting strength back
  • Returning to the gym for the first time in the year
  • Legs no longer giving out; no longer staggering
  • Feels understood and validated ("they saw it right there in the blood work")
  • Optimistic and engaged in his health for the first time

Key Quotes

At 57 years of age, I shouldn't be clinging on to things for dear life trying to carry my own weight. I should be able to walk.

I definitely felt like they understood what I was saying. I felt like they knew what was going on with my health and we seem to be on the same page. It wasn't just someone telling me, 'I can sympathize.' It was someone sitting there going, 'Yeah, I see it right here.'

Conventional medicine just let me down every which direction. They'd test me for a single symptom at a time. They wouldn't look for what was actually going on.

I was getting to the point where the only way I can describe it, I probably looked like Jack Sparrow walking around drunk. I was staggering all the time. I didn't have the strength in my legs. Modern medicine: just go buy a cane. Deal with it. And I knew that wasn't the answer.

Treatments

Testosterone replacement therapy (with estrogen management included from the start)Comprehensive multi-panel blood workTargeted supplement protocol (vitamins and supplements tailored to his results)Estrogen management (aromatase inhibitor or similar, proactively addressed)

because everything kind of indicated to me that I was having an issue with testosterone. Yeah. And uh that was my primary. So I went ahead and did that home health thing and the doctor wouldn't touch me with hone health because I have underlying health issues. I needed someone who was going to take care of my blood pressure. Um diabetic type two. So I needed a I need a primary care physician that could handle monitoring me while I was doing testosterone treatment. Hone health told me I needed it. When I went to the conventional doctor, he wanted to make sure that what I was doing was legit. So, he sent me to a urinologist. He was actually really good with me being at 200, um, which is an extremely low number, uh, especially talking to the folks here where they want me sitting closer to 850. Um, exact opposite side of the the spectrum, the scale. I started doing the treatment here. I'm actually starting to feel a lot better. Everything's starting to fall in line and I'm getting back into the gym again for the first time this year. I really haven't been going to the gym at all. It's just really difficult to drag myself to get outside of the house. Conventional medicine just let me down every which direction. So, I'd go to my primary care physician and I'd mention what was going on and they would test me for a single symptom at a time. They wouldn't look for what was actually going on. It's like I' I'd say this and then let's check you for this, that didn't work, we'll check you for that, and that didn't work, we'll check you for this. So, I kept doing all kinds of tests and blood work. These are going on like 3 months at a time. no answers were coming out of it. A lot of the time there's talking up, oh, you're we're getting older. These are just things that happen to you as you as you age. Uh it's part of being diabetic. It's it's part of the high blood pressure. Uh I really couldn't see or and I wasn't willing to accept that as an answer. My health is a lot more important to me than than what they were offering me. And when I came back from uh working overseas, uh I was a beast. I was in good shape. I was pretty healthy. I started feeling some issues and I went to the doctors and they told me I was diabetic type two. That seemed to just keep progressing. Every time they gave me some sort of a medication, I started developing symptoms and I couldn't figure out what was what was happening. And what it was is I was developing symptoms to the medications they were giving me. And rather than correcting that, they just gave me medications to cover the symptoms. Oh man. Of the medications that were causing the issues to begin with. And eventually I got to the point where I I think I was pretty close to like 12 14 different medications for something. Um I just stopped taking all that garbage all together. I knew I knew that wasn't the way to go. I started seeking something that I was hopeful. I was hopeful when I came here. I think this is the right choice. It was actually kind of simple. The first time I spoke with anyone here, it was just a telephone conversation. They scheduled an appointment. I came in. I said hi. They brought me in. and they they start drew up uh several panels of blood, told me they were looking forward to seeing me again, and out the door I went, it was pretty quick. I didn't have to sit around a waiting room for a half an hour. Didn't have to, you know, I didn't get drugged back to a room where I was left alone for another 20 minutes waiting for the doctor to show up. Yeah. Uh everything happened pretty quick. Every time I come in here, I'm handled pretty pretty exponentially. Happens fast. You don't have to wait. God knows I love that. Yeah. Come in here, do my thing. Yeah. sent right back out the door again pretty quick. And how was that full? When you finally sat down with provider, how was that? They pretty much said everything that I was talking about and they said they could see it in my blood work and they turned around, they put me on a spectrum of vitamins that would complement me, you know, get me to where I needed to be. So, they put me on my the the spectrum of vitamins and the testosterone treatments. And one of the side effects of testosterone is estrogen. And I was really concerned about that. and they they they were covering that initially. They they knew what they're talking about. Now, I'm very comfortable with the people I've spoken to because they do they seem to know what they're talking about. It's really getting me today when you sit there and you watch a television commercial and it's no longer going to your primary care physician, but it's going to your provider, uh your pill pusher. Yeah. You know, and it's like, we got these new drugs on TV, so just go to your doctor and get this new spectrum of drugs to get on. And that should be bothersome. It's like I don't think we're meant to do all that Yeah, I agree. I definitely felt like they understood what I was saying. I felt like they knew what was going on with my health and and we seem to be on the same page. That's huge, you know, and it wasn't just a matter of someone telling me, "Yeah, I can sympathize with you." Was someone who's actually sitting there going, "Yeah, I see it right here, so let's try this." And Lord knows when as soon as I hear that, you know, let's try this. It's like, "Oh, that's not promising." But I guess there's not really a better way to describe it, huh? It's like, let's try this and see how you feel. And they did. They put me on uh they put me on several items. And uh after about a month and a half, I started feeling better. I don't have that breakdown in the middle of the day where I feel like I got to take an hour hour 45 minute nap. It's like I'm getting strength back. Um prior me coming in here, I was getting to the point where the only way I can describe it, I probably looked like Jack Sparrow walking around drunk. I was staggering all the time. I didn't have I couldn't keep my weight above my above my knees. my hips and my knees were going out from under me. Uh, I didn't have the strength in my legs. Again, modern medicine, we're just getting old. Go buy a go buy a cane. Go get some crutches. Uh, deal with it. And I knew that wasn't the answer. Uh, when you're sitting there watching people hitting 110, 120 years old, and god forbid I have to live that long. But, you know, it's like at at 57 years of age, I shouldn't be clinging on to things for dear life trying to carry my own weight. I should be able to walk. If you're if you're going to come in here and expect to to just, you know, overnight join a triathlon and become, you know, the number one guy, it's not going to happen. But you come in here and you you do the you do what you're being told and you do your work and you take the paces and, you know, you will be that person. You might have the gumption to get up in a triathlon. Yeah. You're not going to take first place, but you you'll get the gumption to try. Yeah. That's great. You know, I see it all the time. And honestly, the main reason I I sorted you guys out was because my brother suggested it to me, cuz my my older brother's already doing this. This isn't just me walking in blindly trying it. I I came in here because I I took the suggestion of someone else. Um someone who was going through what, you know, I started to experience and you know, he's got about four years on me. So, uh I was catching up to where he was and you know, he's like, "No, you need to try this." Mhm. And uh as I said, first I tried the internet thing and that wasn't going to work for me. And then I tried the conventional medicine and uh they were really happy with my my crappy numbers. Uh yeah, you know, I mean, to be honest with you, they're good with uh all the numbers that I have in my body physically is where I'm supposed to be. It's like I got high blood pressure a little bit. My blood sugars aren't ridiculous, but they they're high. It's in a range. It's in a range. um my cholesterol levels. They want you to take uh cholesterol medication and people don't understand your brain is cholesterol. Yeah. How many people have dementia Alzheimer's today because they're listening to modern medicine and they're taking poisons that our body is not designed to handle? You know, so there's there's a lot of things, but the one thing that is a truth is as we get older, we don't produce testosterone and we start, you know, you know, deteriorating. we start, you know, becoming that hobbled old man with a big hunchback and you can't carry your own weight. Yeah. And I was starting to turn that direction, which kind of scared me. I don't I don't want someone having to take care of me at a young age. Y uh in my mind, I'm still a young man and I want to I want to act like a fool and I want to play football and I want to run around and I want to have the boats and I want to go skiing. But and I'll be honest with you, the way I was feeling uh I was just lucky to get out of bed in the morning. You you don't have a life if you can't do anything about
