Ryan: TRT, low energy/libido, losing muscle, gaining weight

Summary

Ryan noticed a steady decline in energy, cognitive focus, libido, and muscle mass over roughly 18 to 24 months. His primary care checked his testosterone, found it within the "acceptable range," and declined to treat it, even though his levels had dropped to about half of his personal baseline. At Med Matrix, a comprehensive blood panel revealed multiple deficiencies and he began a supplement protocol plus testosterone replacement therapy. Within about four weeks he felt his libido improve, his afternoon energy wall disappear, and his cognitive clarity and motivation increase substantially, with noticeable benefits to his work performance.

  • Reduced cognitive focus
  • Stressful job compounding fatigue
  • Testosterone had dropped to roughly half his personal baseline; primary care said it was still in acceptable range

Results

  • Afternoon energy crash eliminated
  • Significantly improved cognitive clarity
  • Increased motivation and drive at work
  • Better overall mood and sense of wellbeing
  • Able to sustain focus and productivity through the full work day

Key Quotes

When you go into a primary care physician, they're basically just checking kind of looking over your body, hitting your reflexes. They're just not really diving into that blood panel, really trying to find those deficiencies. It's like apples and oranges as it relates to what's really going on with your body inside.

The biggest thing I noticed was the cognitive clarity and the drive, the motivation I had. That was the real turning point where I was like, wow, it's 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I don't need to go drink caffeine or take a break. I can keep going and finish the day strong.

My old level was really probably closer to my baseline. And if you take that and cut it in half, even though my half was still in what medical professionals say is an acceptable range, that's not necessarily what's acceptable for my body.

Get your blood work done, figure out where your deficiencies are, and come up with a plan. I'm pretty positive most people are going to feel better after a period of time.

So for me it was pretty easy. I just recently turned 15 and I would say probably the last two years I've seen just a decline in I guess my overall energy. Yeah. Um and also cognitive focus. Um, so my job's pretty stressful and uh I would say probably like around 2:00 in the afternoon I kind of started to really hit a wall almost to the point where I felt like Jesus I need to take a nap. Yeah. So that um you know my libido was kind of going down a bit. Um and I've always been super like fed and active and what I found was I was struggling to maintain some muscle mass. Yep. and I noticed my body fat was going up and I was having a hell of a time trying to maintain it even through diet. So those were probably the main Yeah, those are the main reasons. Gotcha. Yep. So how long did you go like just you know not feeling like yourself? Probably I mean at least 18 months probably closer to two years. Um, so I had a good friend, one of my like closest friends had come here, you know, he was like, you know, you had your testosterone check. So I did have it checked two years ago. Um, and what I found was when I came here, it was like half of what it was, excuse me, two years prior. Oh, really like, wow. Yeah. Speak your heart. You have real base. Did you try to get help with your did you talk to this stuff to your primary care at all? Um, I did. Yes. Uh, but they said that my testoster was still in a higher range where it wasn't necessarily needed to start thinking about doing replacement. But the more I read, I realized, well, my old level was really probably closer to my baseline. And if you take that and cut it in half, even though my half was still in, I guess what you know, medical professionals say it's an acceptable range. Well, not necessarily what's unacceptable for my body. It's what I really started to learn, you know, with a lot of reading and stuff. Yeah. Totally. Um, so they were just like, you're not sick enough essentially. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So, uh, when you came to Men Matrix, what was your initial experience? What did you end up doing? And then, yeah. Um, so I did the blood work, obviously, waited, then I did my consultation with Gabe. Uh, and what I found was really interesting was going through the whole blood panel. Yeah. I'd never done that before, you know, with a primary care physician. Yeah. And so Gabe showed basically deficiencies, you know, and and obviously we came up with a supplement protocol. Yeah. And ultimately did testosterone replacement therapy and you know, so that was the initial experience. Yeah. Cool. And then real quick, what was besides just, you know, going more in deep with the um actual visit, what what else was different about the actual provider visit compared to what you've experienced with normal medicine? Um well, I mean, when you go into a primary care physician, uh they're basically just checking kind of looking over your body. Yeah. Hitting your reflexes and they're just they're just not really diving into that blood panel. Yeah. Really trying to find those deficiencies. It was It's like apples and oranges as it relates to what's really going on with your body inside. Mhm. Yeah. Represented. Cool. So, how long ago did you uh initially start the plan and then where are you at now with your health? How do you you feel like things have improved? I do I think I'm probably four and a half, five months in. Um I noticed probably like around week four my libido really started to go up. Um, I wasn't feeling that afternoon tiredness. Uh, and just my cognitive clarity was a lot better. Yeah. But the other thing I noticed, I'm sure this probably dubtailed into the tiredness. I just felt more motivated and so I just got more done work. Oh wow. Yeah. So big impact for you was work life. A lot of work. That's what being more motivated. What did that look like for you? Was it like getting up earlier? Was it just working longer hours? I don't know. I've always been a morning person. I just think it was more sitting at the computer rather than being like, "Ah gosh, I'm kind of like tired right now." Yeah. It was like, "You know what? Let's tackle this. Let's tackle that." You know, and I just kept driving. Uh and I and I still am. I just feel better. So, it's it's at a cleaner imagery level. That's cool. Was there like a specific like wow moment like, "Okay, things are changing or is it kind of just like a buildup of a lot of small things?" Uh I think it was a buildup of a lot of small things because everything I explained in the beginning was you know different things that you know affect me. Yeah. Um but I think like I think the biggest thing I noticed was that cognitive clarity and the drive I or the motivation I had. I think that was the the real turning point where I was like wow like crap. It's 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Yeah. I'm don't need I don't need to go drink caffeine or or you know take a break like I can keep going and finish the day strong. 100% there. Yeah. So for anyone who's um you know maybe they're get a little bit older and they got in primary they feel like they're slowing down a little bit and they're considering you know going outside the conventional medical system and working with med matrix. What would your you know kind of advice to them be? I would say do it. Um get your blood work done. go through figure out where you know your deficiencies are and and really come up with a plan and and I'm I'm pretty positive most people are going to feel better after a period of time. Yeah. It's just it's just stuff that you know primaries tell focus at. Awesome.
