Taking Charge of Her Health at 65

Summary

Maureen, 65 and past menopause, was tired of feeling like crap all the time, and could not get her PCP to run the full thyroid panel that Med Matrix did for her. The clinic put her on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), an estrogen cream plus progesterone, which she calls the best thing. She has Hashimoto's and is hypothyroid, with fibromyalgia, severe migraines and a list of food and medication allergies, so she wanted supplements from people who knew what was in them. The hormone dose was doubled after her second set of labs, and she takes selenium, zinc, vitamin D3 and K. She kept seeing the clinic's ads on Facebook and decided to give it a try, and now says she feels so much better and is eating more protein instead of junk food. She has been telling her friends it is the best thing to do.

Before Med Matrix

  • Tired of feeling like crap all the time, in her words
  • 65 and already through menopause
  • Hashimoto's and hypothyroid, plus fibromyalgia and severe migraines
  • Food allergies (gluten and lactose intolerant) and medications she is allergic to; with all of this, she says it has been hard to navigate through the first set of blood work
  • Says her PCP is held to certain limits and cannot go deeper, and she could not get them to do the full thyroid panel that Med Matrix did for her
  • Supplements like creatine and berberine kept popping up on her Facebook, and with so many allergies she wanted something the team knew and trusted before taking it
  • Says she "was very low on this spectrum" when talking about her hormone dose, and her vitamin D came up too (living in New England without a lot of sun is the reason given in the conversation)

Results

  • Says she feels so much better since she started
  • Calls hormone replacement therapy the best thing, and says she thinks it has been much better since the dose was doubled
  • Says some of the supplements have helped and the anti-inflammatory shot is helping
  • Says she is starting to eat better: more protein, not really eating junk food anymore; fruit smoothies made with a protein drink, blueberries, strawberries or cherries, and bananas
  • Feels listened to, and gets answers back through the portal when she asks about a supplement
  • Wants to keep going, not fall back on old habits, and keep monitoring her progress
  • Has told a friend who is through menopause that it is the best thing to do, and has two other friends watching how she does
