Answers at Last and Better Sleep
Summary
Gina came to Med Matrix trying to figure out what was going on with her. She had lived with strange symptoms for years (terrible rashes, sun sensitivity, severe panic attacks, awful sleep, and hot flashes long past menopause) and started picking up new ones after a tick bite the previous August. She was diagnosed with lupus from a skin biopsy and from an ANA that Dr. Sasha Rose, ND ordered here, something she says she never would have known otherwise. On the medications she was prescribed, including hormone replacement therapy, her sleep improved greatly, and she describes her symptoms as more level instead of constantly up and down.
Before Med Matrix
- Awful hot flashes, well past menopause and still having them
- Sleep was "terrible, absolutely awful"
- Terrible rashes
- Could not go in the sun and did not know why; thought she was having sun poisoning all the time
- Severe panic attacks, including attacks that pulled her out of a dead sleep and had her running into walls
- Sweating on only one side of her body, going back to childhood
- Dizziness she had assumed was sinus related
- Years of unexplained symptoms with nobody connecting them; kept wondering if she was a hypochondriac
- Bitten by a tick the previous August, after which she started getting new symptoms
- Other doctors would not run broader lab work, repeatedly citing insurance
- Was sent to psychiatrists who could not help, because in her words it had nothing to do with mental health
Results
- Sleep greatly improved on the medications she was prescribed
- Says HRT "made a huge difference"
- Lupus identified after years of unexplained symptoms
- A gut panel that "revealed all kinds of things" she had no idea about
- Learned the tick bite had brought out "two other more things" she says she would never have known about
- Describes her symptoms as more level and balanced rather than constantly up and down
- Says that since being on this medication, the panic attacks that hit her during sleep have been good and balanced
- Low-dose naltrexone at the lower dose has "been great" and has kept her paced
- Now knows to limit midday sun and heat and to pace herself
- Felt heard and listened to at her visits, and says her provider adjusts the plan rather than telling her to keep taking something that is not working
Key Quotes
“I kept thinking, what am I a hypochondriac? Like I don't know what's going on. Like all these crazy symptoms. And my husband's like, "You're always sick. What's going on?" You know, he would get frustrated. And I was frustrated.”
“So, yeah, I would have never known, um, if I hadn't come here, and also with the skin biopsy, but yeah, I would have never never connected the dots.”
“My sleep was terrible, absolutely awful.”
“Night and day. Um I would say do it because for one thing, they're going to find things that regular doctors can't.”
